Piano removals

Specialist piano removals across Yorkshire

Moving a piano is a job for people who do it every day. We bring the equipment, the experience and the patience to get your instrument from A to B without a scratch.

Every kind of piano, every kind of move

Piano moving is specialist work — we move all kinds of pianos, from a straightforward upright with level access to a nine-foot concert grand going up in a lift. House to house, room to room, into a venue or into storage: the type of piano and the access at each end shape the plan, and we work the rest out for you.

Our vans carry the proper tools for the job: grand piano slippers, double and triple aluminium ramps, padded skids and protective wraps. Plenty of firms say they'll move a piano — but when a job turns awkward, the wrong approach is how instruments get chipped, scratched or knocked out of tune. This is all we do, so it's the part we've made certain of.

Moving a 9ft Steinway concert grand, through Leeds

A full concert grand is about as demanding as a piano move gets — dismantled, wrapped, skidded, ramped and reassembled at the other end. This is what "careful" looks like when it really counts.

  • Legs and lyre removed, moved on a padded skid
  • Protected every step, from first lift to last
  • Reassembled and settled at the far end

Careful from the first lift to the last

A piano can weigh well over 150 kilograms, with a cast-iron frame, strings under enormous tension and a delicate action inside. We protect every instrument with padded wraps and skids, plan the route through your property before we lift, and protect floors as we go.

It can be tempting to move a piano yourself to save money — but it's heavy, unforgiving work, and the risk to the instrument (and to backs and fingers) usually isn't worth it. Leave it to a team that does this safely, day in, day out.

Good to know

Piano removal questions, answered

Do you move grand pianos as well as uprights?

Yes — uprights, baby grands, full concert grands, digital pianos, pianolas and even organs. Grands are partly dismantled where needed (legs and lyre removed) and moved on a padded skid with proper grand slippers, then reassembled at the other end.

Can you move a piano upstairs or to a first-floor flat?

We do it all the time. Stairs, tight landings, spiral staircases and first-floor flats are routine for us — we bring stair-climbing techniques, lifting belts and aluminium ramps. The access at both ends is the main thing that affects the price, so it helps to mention it when you ask for a quote.

Is my piano insured while you move it?

Yes — we are fully insured to move pianos. When you request a price, you will be able to tell us the value of your piano for liability purposes.

How far will you travel?

Anywhere. We cover the whole of Yorkshire week in, week out, and regularly take pianos the length and breadth of the UK.

How do I get a price?

Tell us the type of piano, the two addresses and a little about the access (steps, stairs, parking). Use the quote form below or call us on 0300 302 3116 and we will get a price back to you.
