Plenty of firms say they'll move a piano — but when a job turns awkward, the wrong approach is how instruments get chipped, scratched or knocked out of tune. Careful from the first lift to the last
A piano can weigh well over 150 kilograms, with a cast-iron frame, strings under enormous tension and a delicate action inside. We protect every instrument with padded wraps and skids, plan the route through your property before we lift, and protect floors as we go.
It can be tempting to move a piano yourself to save money — but it's heavy, unforgiving work, and the risk to the instrument (and to backs and fingers) usually isn't worth it. Leave it to a team that does this safely, day in, day out.
Bidding on a piano online?
Buying a piano at auction or from a marketplace listing puts you in an awkward spot: you need to know what the move will cost before you bid, but you have no collection address until you have won it, and asking a seller for one mid-auction is not a conversation most people want to have.
You do not need the address. Open our chat, and when it asks where the piano is being collected from, paste the listing link instead of a postcode. It will work out the collection area from the listing and price the move on that, so you can bid knowing what the removal adds to your total. When you have won it and have the full address, send it over and we will confirm the figure.
It works the same way for a piano you have already bought and now need shifting, wherever in the country it is sitting.

Piano removal questions, answered
Do you move grand pianos as well as uprights?
Yes — uprights, baby grands, full concert grands, digital pianos, pianolas and even organs. Grands are partly dismantled where needed (legs and lyre removed) and moved on a padded skid with proper grand slippers, then reassembled at the other end.
Can you move a piano upstairs or to a first-floor flat?
We do it all the time. Stairs, tight landings, spiral staircases and first-floor flats are routine for us — we bring stair-climbing techniques, lifting belts and aluminium ramps. The access at both ends is the main thing that affects the price, so it helps to mention it when you ask for a quote.
Is my piano insured while you move it?
Yes — we are fully insured to move pianos. When you request a price, you will be able to tell us the value of your piano for liability purposes.
How far will you travel?
Anywhere. We cover the whole of Yorkshire week in, week out, and regularly take pianos the length and breadth of the UK.
I am bidding on a piano online and do not know the collection address. Can you still quote?
Yes. Paste the listing link into our chat instead of a postcode and it will work out roughly where the piano is coming from, then price the move on that. That means you can get a figure before the auction ends rather than chasing the seller for an address first. Once you win it and have the exact address, tell us and we will confirm the price.
