Every price here is for the piano only. Delivery is charged on top and depends on where you are and what the access is like at both ends. Put your delivery address in the enquiry form and we will come back to you with the cost of getting it to you before anything is agreed. Where a piano shows a delivery limit, our quote to anywhere in the mainland UK will not go over it. Once a sale is agreed we usually deliver within 8 working days. If you buy without coming to see the piano, you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind. We refund what you paid for the piano, and the cost of bringing it back is yours, priced the same way as the delivery.

Kemble Compact Upright Piano

A well-built British upright from Kemble, one of the best known names in English
piano making. Founded in 1911 and later based in Milton Keynes, Kemble earned a
strong reputation for solid, dependable instruments with a warm, mellow tone.

This is a compact model, so it takes up noticeably less floor space than a full
size upright while still giving you a proper acoustic touch and sound. It sits
comfortably against a living room wall, in a dining room or in a bedroom used
for practice. Warm mahogany satin cabinet with two pedals.

Every single note has been played through on the video so you can hear exactly
what you are buying before you commit. Nothing is hidden and nothing is
airbrushed.

Condition, honestly: the cabinet is in average used condition for its age. There
are a few marks and light scuffs here and there, but no major chips, splits or
damage, and it presents well overall. Like any piano that has been moved, it
will benefit from a tune once it has settled into its new home.

Ideal for a beginner starting lessons, a returning player, or a student working
through the early to middle grades. This is a genuine acoustic piano at a
fraction of the price of new, rather than a concert or professional instrument.

Honest about what this is

We are piano movers first, not a piano shop, so we do not keep a showroom of stock. But because we collect so many instruments, we occasionally come across a perfectly good upright that simply needs a new home, and it feels wrong to recycle something still worth playing.

What you see above is what we have, described as we find it. If a piano needs tuning or a note is sticking, we say so rather than leave you to discover it. Everything is sold as described, and you are welcome to come and play it before you commit, or to send your own tuner to look it over.

Delivery is always extra

The price on each piano is for the instrument alone. Moving it is a separate job and the cost depends on how far it is going and what the access is like at both ends: a ground floor delivery a few miles away is a very different job to a first floor flat in another county. Tell us the delivery address when you enquire and we will price the move properly rather than guess at it. Where a piano shows a delivery limit, the quote will never go over it. We move pianos for a living, so it will be done by people who do this every day.

What to look for in a used piano

If you're looking for a second-hand piano, condition matters more than age. A well-kept upright from a respected maker can play beautifully at fifty years old, while a neglected one can be false economy. Ask when it was last tuned, whether it holds its tuning, and whether any notes stick, buzz or fail to sound. If you can, play every key from top to bottom and listen for an even tone. A piano that has stood unplayed in a cold or damp room for years may need work before it sings again, so factor that into the price.

The makes we most often come across in good order include Yamaha, Kawai, Knight, Welmar and Kemble, dependable uprights built to last. Rarer names like Bechstein, Blüthner or a small Steinway do turn up, but any quality grand is worth having checked over by a tuner before you commit.

We rescued a grand from a derelict house

A builder had stripped a North Yorkshire house back to a bare shell, but one grand piano was still worth saving. A lady asked us to help, and today it takes pride of place in her home, cleaned up and restored.
